California CNA Course Requirements & CNA Exam
The California CNA course requirements are higher than those set by OBRA. A total of 150 hours of training which includes the clinical portion are required by the state prior to students being able to qualify for the exam and registry. A live scan process for fingerprinting and a background check must be passed for students to be eligible for certification. Following this, students may apply to take the exam through Headmaster which is contracted by the state to certify nursing assistants.
